InSpring: that feeling.
And how do I
express, convey, record, or transmute it?
Because it pervades, it’s the air, it’s
heavy lilac scent and a
rabbit disappearing
under a hedge, it is birdsong, breeze-on-cheek
and buttercups,
wild-seeded on the margins.
We feel it underneath the
blessing of leafed-out branches,
light
suffusing through the veins,
and neurons…
throughout.
I can try.

🙂 The colors were very beautiful on this outing but I thought I would see what happened with monochrome. Thanks!

It can be a stretch to leave color behind at this time of year – but I’m going to process more photos from that day in color. I’m glad you liked these this way Louis.

Words and images capture Spring deliciously and both are excellently poetic.

I was thinking about how we try to record what we experience in a garden in Spring, but it’s so much more than the photos we usually take. I thought about different ways to convey the whole feeling – like shooting up and into the light, from underneath the Japanese maples, etc. Thank you for the compliment –

It’s amazing how beautiful a photo of a flower can be and yet how much it misses of the actual flower…as you say. I definitely *felt* spring in your post.

what a beautiful post. the monochrome images make them seem timeless – like the first spring, and everyone thereafter…

That’s a nice thought! Colors are so beautiful now, but black and white expresses something a little different.

Ah, good. My favorite of the bunch, and a little different than the others.
I’m in NY now, but with previous little time to spare – would have been good to meet. Next time!
