While New England “enjoys” tons of snow
and New York is well below freezing,
we’re basking in unseasonably warm weather
in the Pacific northwest.
Here’s a taste of this week in Seattle,
from the Washington Park Arboretum and
the Center for Urban Horticulture:
The third, fourth and fifth photos were taken with an Android phone; the rest with a Lumix G3, 20mm lens.
What glorious pink shots!

Beautiful blossoms Lynn. I think our spring must be behind yours by quite a bit..

I couldn’t resist posting, as I know so many people have a ways to go before this happens in their neighborhood!

What! This is what the arboretum looks like right now? Argggh. Iowa’s in the freezer still–months before we get anything like that.

You guys have really had it rough! Actually there seems to be one variety of really early flowering cherry; the rest will follow behind. But it seems early, it does!

I’m usually out there about the third week of March (spring break for our college) and things are going flat out by then. Didn’t realize how much I was missing before that.

I think this is strange – I’ve only been here 3 years so what do I know, but things seem way ahead of schedule. We had a spell of really wet weather, and now above ave. temps, so there ya go!

Not for us in New Jersey! We won’t see cherry tree blossoms until April. 🙂

Are these really all outside this time of year? Is it early to see these blooms in the NW in mid-February? We often have crabapple blossoms like these still fading on Memorial Day weekend in northern MN!

Yes Kat – REALLY! 🙂 No crabapples yet – just the earliest cherries. I’ve only been here 3 years but it seems early to me…
